SongKeyPad Privacy Policy

SongKeyPad is a Windows application that analyzes music — tempo, key, and chords — entirely on your computer. This policy describes what the app does and does not do with your information. The short version: the SongKeyPad desktop app collects no personal data and sends nothing anywhere. Website analytics are described separately below.

No app data collection

SongKeyPad contains no analytics, no telemetry, no advertising, no crash reporting service, and no user accounts. The application includes no networking code of any kind: it makes no network connections, so no information about you, your device, or your music ever leaves your computer through the app.

Audio files you open

When you open or drag in an audio file, SongKeyPad reads it from your disk, analyzes it in memory on your computer, and displays the results. Your audio is never uploaded, copied elsewhere, or shared. Analysis results (tempo, key, chord timeline) are saved in a local cache on your computer so re-opening the same file is instant.

Microphone

SongKeyPad can record from a microphone, but only when you press the record key, and it stops when you press stop. Windows will ask for your permission before the app can use the microphone, and you can revoke that permission at any time in Windows Settings. Recordings are written to a temporary folder on your computer, used only for the analysis you requested, and deleted automatically — old recordings are cleaned up when the app starts and when it closes. Recordings are never transmitted anywhere.

Nothing is stored anywhere other than your own computer.

Website analytics

The SongKeyPad website uses Vercel Web Analytics, Google Analytics 4, Microsoft Clarity, and Statcounter to understand visits and how people use the public pages. Vercel Web Analytics uses anonymized measurement without third-party cookies. The other services may process your IP address, browser and device information, referring page, pages viewed, and interaction data, and may use cookies or similar browser storage under their own policies.

Embedded video

The homepage includes a YouTube video using YouTube's privacy-enhanced player domain. When the player loads or you choose to play the video, YouTube and Google may receive your IP address, browser and device information, referring page, and interaction data under the Google Privacy Policy. The embedded player never receives audio, analysis results, recordings, exports, or other information from inside the SongKeyPad desktop app.

Third parties inside the app

The SongKeyPad desktop app uses no third-party services. Because the app makes no network connections, no app data is shared with, sold to, or processed by anyone. If you obtained SongKeyPad through a store (such as the Microsoft Store or itch.io), that store's own privacy policy governs your interaction with the store itself — the app adds nothing on top.

Children

The SongKeyPad app is suitable for general audiences. Since the app collects no data from anyone, it collects no data from children. The website is not directed to children; its disclosed analytics services govern website measurement under their own privacy policies.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of SongKeyPad ever changes what it does with data — for example, an optional online feature — this policy will be updated first, the change will be clearly described in the release notes, and the effective date above will change. The current desktop app's guarantee is absolute: no app data collection and no app data transmission.
